FAQ
what qualifications & training do you have?
I currently hold a Diploma in Professional Photography, alongside a Diploma in Teaching (0-8).
I also hold current Newborn handling and safety certification, and first aid.
I have completed several Newborn Photography training courses over the years, and am privileged to be trusted to photograph over 100 newborns each year.
what should I expect during a session with you?
expect to have fun with one another! expect to laugh, cuddle, kiss, play with one another! forget about telling your kids to behave themselves and cooperate, let them explore, play, jump and be silly – embrace the chaos and the crazy WITH THEM and lets capture moments that you will look back on that will make you smile, laugh and cry! I will guide you into different positions, ask you to cuddle into one another or move you into spots where the light is the best
do you offer payment plans?
yes, absolutely. As well as Afterpay, I offer flexible payment options - you'll need to book early to utilize this.
when do I need to book?
for most session types, its best to book as far in advance as possible. maternity & newborn sessions can be booked from 12 weeks gestation. there are limited spaces available each month and these often fill up quickly. to book, head to the contact page and flick us a message.
for weddings, popular dates book up to 2 years out - so if you have a date set, reach out as soon as possible to check availability.
how do i book when I don't know when exactly my baby will arrive?
bookings are made using your due date, however your actual session date and time is not locked in until baby arrives. please let me know as soon as your baby arrives so we can schedule your session within the first 7-21 days of age.
when is the ideal time to photograph a newborn?
newborn photography is best from 7-21 days of age, I try to book these sessions in for around 10 days old wherever possible. they sleep deeper, curl and don't mind being handled. after 2-3 weeks, babies are a little harder to settle and are much more alert but that does not mean that after this period your baby cannot be photographed. I do take older newborns up to 6 weeks of age - after this age, you are more suited to a family studio session or milestone session.
my baby has milk spots and acne, is that a problem?
no! absolutely not! most of the newborns I photograph have a variety of blemishes. all newborn images are retouched individually.
do you supply the props for newborns?
yes! I have a range of carefully selected newborn props, as well as wraps, outfits and accessories. all of this is covered in your session cost.
do you have a client wardrobe available?
yes, I have a carefully curated range of maternity dresses from specialist creators overseas, as well as options for preschoolers and babies. I also have a small selection of men's t-shirts and shirts available if needed.
For outdoor Maternity sessions, you can select your gown/s via our online Gown gallery prior to your session, or opt for an in Studio consultation for $60.
what is the best time of day for an outdoor session?
for the best light, I recommend evening sessions, around an hour before the sun is due to set. however, the best time is dependent on when you are feeling your best!
